Big South Fork
Big South Fork gives you Kentucky-Tennessee border country at its finest. The Big South Fork River carved a massive gorge through the Cumberland Plateau - sandstone cliffs, waterfalls, natural arches, and river views that make boys stop mid-trail and just stare. The John Muir Trail here is phenomenal - 50+ miles of backcountry that rivals anything in the East. We'll hike rim-to-river loops, camp near waterfalls, and explore rock houses (natural shelters). The terrain is similar to Red River Gorge but less crowded and more wild. This is a fantastic alternative if you want the same geology and beauty but different scenery. Plus, crossing state lines makes every trip feel more epic.
