Everglades National Park
The Everglades Wilderness Waterway is 99 miles of coastal kayaking through America's most unique ecosystem. You'll paddle through mangrove tunnels, camp on chickee platforms (raised wooden platforms over water), see dolphins, manatees, crocodiles, and hundreds of bird species. Navigation is by GPS and chart - there are no landmarks, just endless mangroves and open bays. This is expedition kayaking that demands skill, planning, and maturity. The remoteness is real - you're days from help if things go wrong. But it's also subtropical paradise: warm weather, incredible wildlife, and landscapes unlike anywhere else in America. This is the winter trip that makes February bearable.
