Three Sisters Wilderness
The Three Sisters Wilderness in Oregon's Cascades is volcanic alpine country - lava fields, obsidian cliffs, glaciers clinging to dormant volcanoes, and alpine lakes that reflect snow-capped peaks. You'll hike sections of the Pacific Crest Trail through country that defines Oregon wilderness. The terrain is varied - from lava rock scrambles to meadow strolls - keeping every day interesting. The fishing is excellent. The wildflowers in August are insane. This is Pacific Northwest backpacking without rainforest rain - drier, sunnier, and absolutely spectacular. It's the trip that makes boys understand why the PCT is on every thru-hiker's bucket list.
